Optimized

Education policy advocacy requires rapid, visual communication of complex legislative landscapes. Yes. Every Kid. Foundation needed more than a website — they needed a live policy intelligence platform that could update legislators' positions in real time and give advocates the tools to take action.

The centerpiece of the project is an interactive state-by-state map that color-codes each state's current position on school choice legislation. Visitors can click any state to see current bill status, their legislators' positions, and direct links to contact forms.

The design system prioritizes urgency and clarity. This is an advocacy platform, not a brochure site. Every element — from the typography to the color system to the CTA architecture — is designed to convert passive visitors into active advocates.

Non-profit design often errs toward safe and institutional. We pushed for bold and energetic — a site that communicates the enthusiasm of the movement, not just the mechanics of the policy.

Design Decisions

Six choices that convert.

01
Interactive State Map as Hero
The map is not a feature — it's the experience. Placing it as the primary homepage interaction immediately communicates the national scale of the movement and invites advocates to find their own state.
02
Real-Time Legislative Status
Color-coding (green/yellow/red) by legislative progress gives advocates an immediate pulse on the national landscape. No reading required — the map tells the story at a glance.
03
Action Architecture
Every state's detail view ends with three clear actions: call your representative, share on social, donate. The advocacy funnel is built into every page of the experience.
04
Bold Non-Profit Aesthetic
We rejected the typical soft-pastels-and-stock-photography of non-profit design. The forest green and yellow system is energetic and distinctive — memorable in a crowded advocacy space.
05
Mobile Advocacy Flow
School choice advocates attend rallies, testify at hearings, and canvas neighborhoods. The entire site — especially the state map and contact tools — is fully functional on mobile.
06
SEO for Legislative Keywords
Structured for discoverability on state-specific searches: 'school choice Florida 2025,' 'education savings account Virginia' — capturing advocates at the moment of engagement.
